Our STORY

  • 1997

    SECTOR PIONEERS

    MicroRate began operations from its Washington D.C. headquarters in the United States.

  • 2003

    CREATION OF A BRANCH OFFICE

    A branch office was opened in Lima, Peru, with the aim of coordinating its Latin American and Caribbean operations from there.

  • 2011

    AUTHORIZATION BY PERU’S SUPERINTENDENCY OF BANKING AND INSURANCE (SBS)

    MicroRate obtained the authorization and recognition of Peru’s Superintendency of Banking and Insurance (SBS) to operate as a regulated risk rating agency.

  • 2016

    CREATION OF OUR RESEARCH UNIT

    MicroRate Research, a business unit geared to sectoral research and analysis, was created with a view to providing analysis studies and tools to our rated customers, as well as to agents with an interest in the microfinance and financial sector.

  • 2018

    CREATION OF A BRANCH OFFICE

    A branch office was opened in Dakar, Senegal, with the aim of coordinating its African, European and Asian operations from there.

  • 2021

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT BY CENTRAL BANK OF TUNISIA

    MicroRate was officially acknowledged as rater for Microfinance Institutions under the authority of Le Gouverneur de la Banque Centrale de Tunisie (Central Bank of Tunisia).
